Plant Manager
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to oversee our Vaughan, Ontario operations. As an operational anchor of our facility, you will be expected to align daily floor operations with our broader corporate strategy. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, maximising equipment asset efficiency, and championing a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and strict cost control.
This role will be reporting directly to the General Manager.
As a decisive and collaborative leader, you will unite cross-functional teams, provide clear direction and mentorship to production supervisors, and ensure the plant consistently hits its safety, quality, and output targets.

Key responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily plant operations from raw material handling through extrusion, conversion, and shipping to ensure maximum throughput and minimal operational delays.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report daily, weekly, and monthly production performance against KPIs; deliver structured variance analysis and execute permanent countermeasures when targets are missed.
- Maintain an optimal, safe, and highly organized production environment through a structured, plant-wide housekeeping program.
- Maximize uptime and reliability of high-speed extrusion machinery by overseeing comprehensive preventive maintenance programs.
- Drive technical optimization methods to accelerate job transitions, minimize changeover-related scrap, and boost multi-line scheduling agility.
- Identify and execute engineering opportunities to lower manufacturing costs through workflow design, material optimization, and targeted capital planning.
- Establish the overall manufacturing process plan, defining requirements for human resources, raw materials, facility capacity, and specialized tooling.
- Formulate, manage, and adhere to annual operational budgets and cost control standards; monitor and prioritize spending activities to ensure strict resource allocation.
- Enforce absolute compliance with corporate safety policies, local, state, and federal environmental standards, and government regulations.
- Deploy and audit strict quality control standards to satisfy external customer specifications, drive down internal scrap rates, and manage production deviations proactively.
- Directly supervise, mentor, and evaluate production supervisors and department heads, creating a culture of accountable goal setting and timely feedback.
- Attract, retain, and upskill plant personnel to foster workforce versatility, operational autonomy, and robust internal talent pipelines.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Technical or Engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Plastics Engineering) or an equivalent mix of industrial experience and professional training.
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of operations experience within a fast paced manufacturing facility, including at least 3–5 years in an autonomous plant management or production leadership role.
- Proven, hands-on experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques, with specific expertise in quick changeover methods applied to complex industrial machinery.
- Superior problem-solving abilities, excellent organization, and highly advanced interpersonal coaching skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Absolute commitment to safety.
