Approves of CEOI have been working at Okta full-time
Pros
Great culture Florishing stock Treats employees well No meeting Thursdays Friendly and skilled engineers Events and hackathons Compensation is great Managers and amazing, no micro management
Cons
Monolithic codebase executed very poorly Very little attention given to proper infrastructure choices Sales driven "Band-Aid" solutions are encouraged Very little room for self improvement A huge chunk of time is wasted waiting for builds and dealing with merging code into production Very risk-adverse. Moonshot projects are nonexistent on most teams, but are encouraged to be done in two day hackathons

I have been for roughly a few months and I am so glad I made the move to Okta - I did expect a great experience from the beginning but it turned out to be Awesome! Here are a few things that have impressed so far.... Superb state-of-the-art office (King/Bathurst) Great smart people who want to collaborate - Passion Massive hiring and growth happening in Toronto and Canada Free Lunch - Monday-Wednesday & Friday Benefits have got much better! Great Pay and Stock Opportunities Work Life Balance
Cons
Remembering the names of all the new employees we keep hiring week after week :)

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Okta full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Okta has some of the highest engineering standards of any company I have ever worked for. This runs deep throughout quality, availability, reliability, scalability and process dimensions of the platform. It is truly an engineering-driven company, with top-notch technical talent, motivated by a healthy meritocracy at its core. I've been extremely impressed with the senior leadership who are friendly, humble, accessible and motivating. Along with the extremely competitive compensation, The Toronto office is full of great people and perks as well.
Cons
Work / life balance can be a challenge for a SaaS company with an Always On tagline. On the other hand, the organization is also very respectful of personal time. Since Toronto is a remote to the SF HQ, it can be a challenge to have "water cooler talks" with fellow employees who do not work in the office. This isn't specific to Okta, but a reflection of a satellite office.

RecommendsApproves of CEOI have been working at Okta full-time for more than a year
Pros
- Everyday challenge - Rapidly growing - Nice kitchen - Flexible hours - Good pay
Cons
- Benfits do not match Canadian standard - Outdated technology in some areas makes it hard to learn and grow - Promotion and career advance can be tricky because of the monolithic architecture only certain teams, who work closely with the core of the monolith have a chance of being visible for their everyday work

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Okta full-time for more than a year
Pros
- Great co-workers, lots of smart people, though most of your team members will likely be at HQ in San Francisco or San Jose - New Toronto office is very nice, with good perks. - Toronto co-workers are great, from a breadth of different teams - Very flexible hours, and work from home once a week - Excellent base pay - Honest and candid leadership - Recognition is given regularly and properly. Lots of opportunity for growth. Well-defined career tracks (technical & management) - People, in its great majority, put a genuine effort in improving what's not good enough
Cons
- Benefits (especially vacation) are very basic, even when they didn't have to be - to the point of being annoying sometimes - HR and workplace management are all in HQ (San Francisco), so getting their attention on many of the pain points around benefits/office issues can be very challenging - Work/life balance can be tricky with a Pacific-Time based team - Complicated dev environment & monolithic architecture of the product sometimes complicate the simplest of tasks - Not the fastest brand of agile is followed in the dev process

High salary, collaborative work environment
Cons
Fast Paced, highly technical role
