The Department of Statistical & Actuarial Sciences is a vibrant hub of scholarly activity offering a stimulating and dynamic environment attractive to outstanding students and leading researchers. Our focus is on new and innovative applications of statistical and actuarial sciences to problems of societal importance, and to continue building our new professional Masters and postgraduate programs.

The Research Associate (RA) will support the research activities for quantitative data analytics projects related to wildland fire science and management in the Wildland Fire Science Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Douglas Woolford. The RA will be responsible for carrying out and/or overseeing original and independent research, including tasks such as, but not limited to:

• The complilation and cleaning of data from a variety of sources into a single data set for modelling;
• Exploratory/descriptive data analysis;
• Implementation and management of numerical studies including statistical modelling/machine learning;
• Evaluation and interpretation of numerical/empirical analyses;
• Literature search and review;
• The dissemination of research results, including preparation and revision of written reports as well as presentations.
