I have been working at McGill University part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great mentorship and teaching experience for graduate students. You're playing an important role for aspiring undergrads.

    Cons

Might end up working more hours than you're paid for. Some courses might not have enough resources for TAs.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the AGSEM.

  4. "McGill University offers a world class experience for graduate students."

    StarStarStarStarStar

I have been working at McGill University

    Pros

The resources at McGill are excellent, including spaces for students and groups to meet, collaborate, and organize. Research and teaching staff are among the best available in academia regarding their well-rounded ness and capacity for educating. Outreach to the public is a top priority in many research departments or schools. The community is always invited to explore new ideas at McGill through seminars and... lecture series held by students and post doctoral fellows. Connections with world class universities and research institutes are easily made through a graduate education at McGill.

    Cons

Many research programs are at the forefront of their fields and hence the work environment can be fast-paced and demanding. While this may prepare the student for equally intense environments after graduation, it may also foster a culture of workaholism and lack of appreciation for personal care and mental health. Most graduate students deal with these pressures regardless of their university.

    Advice to Management

Diversity, equity, inclusion, and public outreach should remain a top priority across the campus.
