Company is circling the drain

Pros

You don’t have to excel here to stay here (see the whole of marketing!). The benefits and perks are quite good, which about the only thing that makes the company even remotely worth working there. Also people who woke here, just work, are great usually.

Cons

Terrible work environment, terrible management, terrible in-it-for-himself CEO, failing company. see review for more details.

Thank you for your input. As a long-term Absolute employee, you’ve seen the significant changes that have occurred in the past 18 months. This includes our tier one deliverable of improving how we communicate with each other. As a result, our short- and long-term business strategies have been openly and consistently shared across the organization. Based on our employee survey results, these efforts are noted and appreciated by most people that work here. In fact, our latest employee survey had the best participation and satisfaction ratings we’ve seen so far. You have a strong opinion when it comes to our path forward and it doesn’t seem you are very happy working here. We encourage you to share your views with your manager so we can work collaboratively to improve your experience. We work hard to create a balanced and positive work environment, so it’s important that we receive and understand everyone’s perspective. With our new offices underway and upcoming product announcements, Absolute is an exciting place and we’d like everyone to share in the fun.

Time for a change

Pros

Great front line people who generally care deeply about the product, company and customers. Good central downtown location and decent perks. New offices will be nice.

Cons

This is once a great company which has been reduced to a shambles by the current CEO, who is only in it to pad his own resume and cares nothing for the customers or the employees. Running a company through intimidation and fear just doesn't work in the long term and continuously adding new C-Level executives at exorbitant compensation does nothing to change that. Going to work every day wondering what kind of unknown new pressure will come to the forefront does not make for a good environment. This company grew from zero to $100M annually through the hard work of the employees, the loyalty of our customers, and a great sense of teamwork and purpose all of which have been lacking in the last two years. Employees used to feel valued and felt that the company cared about them. ABT is now very cold, and the recent results show that this style of 1980's management just doesn't work. Don't be fooled by the canned marketing reviews on Glassdoor.

Stay Away (unless you are a yes man or yes woman)

Pros

If you are looking for an example that gives you personal experience on how to run a formerly successful company into the ground, then take a job with Absolute. Everything that is wrong with leadership and culture piled up into one company.

Cons

Current CEO sold the Board of Directors a vision that has failed. CEO came into Absolute like a Bull in a China Shop thinking he could "spin" the technology into the INFOSEC world. His way or the highway was the approach. He did not understand the complexities and nuances of the software and services. He abandoned the CORE of what was making the revenue (and paying the bills). He has surrounded himself by "yes men", or hired them. Almost all the former team has been released and new players brought in. Problem is that they are just playing up to the CEO's
