About the Role We are seeking a versatile, hands-on Technical Associate to provide engineering, coding, and automation support directly to a scientific executive.
This role is for an engineer at heart who genuinely enjoys doing different things—ranging from writing full-stack code and integrating databases to building automation pipelines and tinkering with robotics or 3D prototyping.
Because you will be supporting a scientist rather than a software team, you must be a self-driven problem solver. You will be expected to use AI tools (Claude, GPT, Copilot) daily as a technical partner to write clean code, audit systems, and master new tools quickly. This is an entry-to-mid-level execution role for someone who wants to skip the corporate fluff, work on diverse projects, and prove their capability through real results.
What You’ll Do You will execute and support projects across several technical areas:
- Coding & App Integration: Turning front-end designs into working apps, connecting them to existing backends, and reviewing full-stack code for security and performance.
- Automation & Data: Setting up workflow automation (Zapier, n8n), writing data scripts to optimize SEM/SMM analytics and ad bidding, and working with graph databases (Neo4j/ArangoDB).
- Robotics & Prototyping: Designing 3D/CAD files, creating physical enclosures, and setting up basic robotics, sensors, or automated office workflows.
Who This Is For
- You have a solid foundational understanding of coding, data, or mechanical principles.
- You are humble, eager to learn, and want to earn your stripes from the ground up.
- You are autonomous; when you hit a technical roadblock, you use documentation and AI to find a practical solution independently.
- You care about building functional, secure systems rather than debating theory.
Useful Background You don't need to be an expert in all of these, but you should have a solid grasp of a few and the curiosity to learn the rest:
- Software: Python, JavaScript, React, WordPress, or AWS hosting.
- Data: Databases (Relational or Graph), APIs, and data mapping.
- Automation: Workflow tools (n8n, Zapier) or custom scripting.
- Hardware: 3D printing, CAD modeling, or basic electronics/mechatronics.
Position Type & Compensation
- Type: Freelance Contract / Project-by-Project (Hourly, In-Person).
- Rate: $22.00 – $28.00 / hour (Depending on baseline technical skills).
- The Path Forward: Exceptional performance on initial projects will open up opportunities for a permanent, full-time position with structured compensation growth.
How to Apply: To ensure you are reading the details of this role, please include a brief note answering these two questions:
- What is a project you recently built or coded (software, hardware, or automation) that you are proud of?
- How do you typically leverage AI to help you write, debug, or audit code?
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
