Oracle Sr. Sofware Engineer interview questions

During the Oracle technical round, I hit a snag with a vague aggregation question. I explicitly told the interviewer I was assuming the use of AVG and proceeded to build out a fairly complex solution based on that. Even though I was narrating my logic out loud, the interviewer stayed completely silent. I only realized afterward that they actually wanted SUM.
