I think John Maxwell, an American author, sums it up best when he says, "Change is inevitable. Growth is optional." A lot has changed in the past 17 years at Salesforce. However, one constant is our ability to pioneer a whole new way of doing business - one in which its success is inseparable from building a better world.

Salesforce – Why Work With Us?

Years ago, while on sabbatical in Hawaii, Marc Benioff had a vision for a different kind of company – one built around not only a new technology, business, and philanthropy model, but also built around the Hawaiian concept of “Ohana” – which means “family” in Hawaiian.

Today, Ohana is at the heart of everything Salesforce does. It is the deep-seated support system we nurture inside our company that extends from our employees to our customers, our partners, and our communities. It is the bedrock upon which our company was built and the foundation for all the success that has flowed – and will continue to flow from it.

So what does Ohana look like in practice?

  • It’s our employees knowing Salesforce is a place where they can be themselves, team up with other amazing individuals to accomplish the incredible, and have fun doing it.
  • It’s our customers and partners trusting that we are here to help them succeed.
  • It’s communities believing as we succeed, we will share our success with them.
  • It’s our whole Ohana – Salesforce employees, customers, partners and nonprofits – working together to improve the state of the world.

Our core values – Innovation, Customer Success, and Giving Back – make our work meaningful, while our other values – Trust, Transparency, Equality, Wellness and Fun – ensure that we work together right. Together these values unite us, inspire us, and make us uniquely Salesforce – a great place to work.

Our internships are paid positions that offer you the chance to grow and receive meaningful work experience. We offer internship opportunities to undergraduate- and graduate-level students. They typically run for 12 weeks during the summer in our HQ offices and 4-6 months throughout the year in our EMEA/Europe locations. As an intern, you'll work in a professional, collaborative environment under the supervision of a manager and the direction of a mentor and take on exciting, challenging, high-visibility projects. Meanwhile, the University Programs team will provide you with career guidance and coaching opportunities.

We also have some select co-op opportunities, which are often longer-term assignments through which you can receive academic credit, (depending on your university requirements) and some opportunities to work on your masters thesis.

Our traineeships will help you make your first step in the business world. You will be trained up and work alongside seasoned professionals to help get most out of your experience. Traineeships usually run 3-6 months with an eye on your personal development in the business. Around 80% of our trainees got converted last year into a full-time permanent position.

I have been working at Salesforce full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Best front end system(s) of engagement in the business. The platform earns you time to speak with all executive lines of business about strategic direction and where you can support their success. It's one of the biggest reasons that I've come back to the company. There's some great competition for enterprise sales with AWS and Google Cloud but I'd much rather speak to executive stakeholders rather than IT about Infrastructure. Lot's of meat on the bone for things to sell with recent acquisitions.

    Cons

It's up to you to build healthy boundaries around work life balance when you are working at the fastest growing enterprise company in the world. Occasionally, you can get boxed in with certain verticals (teams) not wanting you to venture outside of their linear career path. Emerging commercial business roles are subject to transactional sales and relationships but show me a company where that's not the case. Occasionally implementation partners are not adequately prepared to take on large deal implementations which can result in customer satisfaction issues. These can linger and be stressful but there are the right resources on the Salesforce end to make things right.

    Advice to Management

Salesforce is subject to hiring top performing sales reps as managers. Occasionally I'd like to scream from the mountain top that the best sales people don't necessarily translate to the best managers. Hire the best people and provide them with the autonomy and tools to do their job and get out of their way.

    Solutions Engineer Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce (Toronto, ON) in November 2019.

    Interview

I applied through employee referral the process took roughly one month and half . The interview process was quiet challenging started with a screening interview with recuiter and then phone interview with hiring manager followed by face to face 90 minutes interview with hiring manager and two other interviews with senior management and the team . After the interview rounds I was given a case study on which I worked for two weeks and presented to a panel . The most amazing thing about the whole process was the transparency of it and the spirit . They dont try to trick you rather they set you up for success and they were very nice during the whole process . Hiring manager was very helpful during dry runs gave me onstructive feedback and was very accessible as well via email or phone . The whole process was a amazing and challenging exprience .
