      Claims Service Representative Interview

      May 15, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO in Feb 2014

      Interview

I recently applied for the position and was promptly invited to a phone interview where I was asked questions about info on my resume. I was given information about the job, the salary, the hours, the training and attendance expectations. It all went very well and I was scheduled for the next step which I was told would take 3-5 hours. This consisted of a typing test, a computer multi-tasking test and a personality test. The typing test was ok. The multi-tasking test involved a fictitious medical company where you had to answer either online or phone scenarios. It was a little confusing however I passed all 3 & was told to wait approx. 1 hour to speak with someone from HR. This next step involved speaking with a HR rep for approx. 45 min. There were numerous "what would you do" questions as well as others. The next day I was notified by e-mail to set up another appointment but shortly after, I received a voice message saying the e-mail had been sent in error & that I would not be moving on to the next step. Sure to say I was a bit disappointed but also a bit annoyed at their mistake. I realize Geico is a big company and from what I was told offer great benefits and pay but their hiring process could be a bit more personalized.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO (Houston, TX) in May 2025

      Interview

It took 1 month all together from 4/16/25 to 5/13/25. Pretty lengthy process. Step 1: 30 min behavioral-situational based assessment. The type of assessment they had me take really didn't have much to do with the actual role which was a tad bit frustrating. Step 2: 30 minute interview. Be prepared to know your job history. The recruiter began by discussing the role, training expectations and she asked some behavioral questions. There are 2 role play scenarios. I know I did well in the interview, I was told by the recruiter she would endorse me to the hiring manager however on 5/13/25, I received a rejection letter 2 weeks after the interview (after being told it would take only 1-3 business days to hear back) which is disappointing considering I was qualified and I interviewed well.

Scenario- As a metric/goal, you've had 8 out of 10 calls error free and the goal is to have 9 out of 10 calls error free. How would react to that situation?

      Question 4

How would you react to taking back to back calls? How often do you deal with unpleasant customers?
      1 Answer

      Question 5

1st role play scenario- customer is upset because their claim was delayed by a month. customer has been calling to check status of claim for a week. 2nd role play scenario- this was one was kind of unclear but it was something about an offer for Geico Express Services for a customer to get quotes for repairs, repairs done and a rental car in an all-in-one location, how would you communicate this offer availability to the customer?

      Claims Service Representative Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GEICO

      Interview

The interview process was extensive to the point of being ludicrous for what the role entails. Thankfully I did not move forward with this position and am now making about TWICE the annual salary I would have made at Geico for a far less stressful job. The most laughable thing about Geico is that they want you to have a bachelor's degree to earn the salary of a middle school dropout. Love yourself. Do not use your 4 year college education to make 22 dollars an hour. I have an associates and am doing far better. Also, hair follicle tests prior to employment? That's a bit much. What a ridiculously demanding company for a pittance of a salary. I strongly feel that this is where lost people go when they don't know what to do with themselves. Again. You can do better.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I don't recall specific questions, but I do recall a ridiculously long "mock work" assessment over video chat with some recruiter watching my every move in silence. If this is how they expect people to excel, their work environment must be incredibly toxic.
