      Pros

      - Committed to a diverse, non-toxic culture - Flexibility, trust - Competitive compensation - Interesting work - Company is growing quickly and there is always more to learn - Every employee has a growth/promotion plan and a generous education and training budget - Company cares about employees. Even in the rare event that someone is let go, they are given generous severance.

      Cons

High growth, outgrow processes quickly. Need to be resourceful and open to change. (Don't really have any big cons)

Truly incredible company to work for

Aug 18, 2021 - Customer Champion in Burnaby, BC
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Been working here since February, already had a significant raise and promotion despite being relatively new. If you're working hard and exceeding expectations it doesn't matter about your tenure.

      Cons

None, genuinely, I could not say a single bad thing about this company.

      The real deal

      Jul 29, 2021 - Full-time Employee in Toronto, ON
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Employees (and customers) really and truly are #1 in this company. If you share what you are unhappy with, it will get addressed 100% of the time. - REAL flexible vacation policy. The expectation is that you take at least 4 weeks, which is outside of the extended long weekends they give you, the shut down at the end of December, and the other miscellaneous days off. Most people on my team take around 5 weeks or more per year. - Regular cadence of fun gifts both for you and your family (and pets), expensed lunches, celebrations, swag, the list goes on. - Brilliant and caring leadership. This company is a gem and will go places because of the people leading it. - Ongoing learning. This is what we do here. - Complete transparency around everything. - Lots of growth happening and still to come. Everyone here is on a great career growth trajectory based on the success of the company. - Newbies - get to set up your at-home office on Thinkific! - Above market compensation.

      Cons

You are surrounded by intelligent and hard-working people. Of course, this is a pro, but when you're first starting here, it can feel intimidating.

Future leader of tech and corporate cultures

Jul 7, 2021 - Account Executive in Vancouver, BC
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Everything and everyone at Thinkific has been exemplary - from leadership down to new hires, they really value their people first, and building their ambitious dreams of democratizing education at scale. Hope other companies will learn from their people-first and equitable culture.

      Cons

No RRSP matching plans, salaries are not transparent across the board. A lot of growing pains due to scaling quickly, but at the same time provides opportunity for advancement and innovation amidst the chaos and change.

      Developer's dream job

      May 12, 2021 - Fullstack Software Developer
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

As a developer, I believe Thinkific has the best product culture out of all the tech companies in Vancouver. - Overtime is not required nor recommended, and management actively recommends maintaining healthy separation of work from the rest of life to prevent burnout - But if you're a late owl, or have erratic work patterns, management is amenable to alternative schedules as long as you're able to meet minimal expectations of communication - Healthy code review patterns are actively practised (no passive aggressive remarks, no blaming/shaming, no repetitive comments for repeated code styling issues) - Culture encourages actively asking questions and engaging in discussions (done mostly via Slack) - Plenty of room for career development, like a monthly stipend for personal growth, ability to change teams/focus (ie. app logic => infra management)

      Cons

      - You may not enjoy it here if you heavily enjoy/depend on traditional structures of corporate software development, or if you are a specialist in one area who doesn't enjoy blurring the lines of your area of focus - Product management does listen to individual contributors, but not consistently. Developer's painpoints can be gatekept if not passed up through the right channels
