I have been working at Manulife full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Big organization with a lot of Actuarial roles. Very nice Senior Management in Actuarial teams that can teach you a lot Work is visible and promotions can be quick and is becoming more merit-based. Nnice study days for exams, good work-life balance, and ability to work remotely later. Great place to train and become an experienced actuary.

    Cons

Recent CEO change has brought a lot of re-organization, so you need to be adaptive. However, the focus of new management is good.

    Advice to Management

Need to invest more into advertisement and recruitment to attract young actuarial talents.

I have been working at Manulife full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Cons

Slow moving to make decisions Very large complex organization. Constantly focused on cost cutting without clear where new investments is going

    Advice to Management

Be more specific in your strategy Senior management needs to spend more time with employees a few levels down from them to better understand their daily jobs

    Pros

Flexible work from home options. Company encourages employees to get involved in events and charity work.

    Cons

This is specific for my team but absolutely no feeling of being part of a team. Not included in team events, left out of project meetings etc. Almost to the point of bullying.

    Advice to Management

Encourage employees to include all members of a team together.

I have been working at Manulife full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work from home flexibility and average pay.

    Cons

Absence of appreciation for the work done even if you save hundreds of thousands $ for the company. Leadership changes before any change in the season.

    Advice to Management

Cost management is a step towards optimization and efficiency to an extent but loosing talent and not appreciating employees and compensating them enough is no good.
