I worked at Manulife full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Work From Home Flexibility - Matching of Manulife Stock Purchase Options - Good Pension Plan - Potential to visit other office locations - Good headoffice facility and amenities

    Cons

    - Pay is horrible - No proper way of getting a raise or career advancement - Management will give you a run around by saying they dont have the budget to provide a raise but will have extensive budget for other initiatives and going on a hiring spree - Management is two faced when it comes to making decisions - When asked for an allowance for Education and Training they will tell you build a business case so... that your Business Case rejected. This has happened multiple time when I wasted my time to build a business case - Generally the staff are demotivated and not really excited to work in the team - Management and above dont really have a game plan other than giving a run around - All questions directed to the Manager will get you one response to talk to the director as they dont have an answer - Highly controlling management style - If you are looking to build and learn in your career then look elsewhere or you will waste your time listening to the Manager's stories - Highly political environment and everyone is trying to pull you down and they are not genuine people - If you are at a Non-Management level you will be stuck there forever - You will fill out the HR career development documents that will literally be a fancy document that will be filed away. You will be told go figure out your career path. - It felt like working for a department were you had no say and no voice - Projects are average

I have been working at Manulife full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Insurance teams are passionate about the customer and advisors. For now, work from home is encouraged (but we heard that is changing)

    Cons

Cost savings more important than customer Experience. They call the Ops team “CX” but they care more about the pile of $$ they need to save more so than the CX. Anyone that has shown compassion and honesty in CX they get rid of and want “yes men” that go along with whatever Senior Management say.

    Advice to Management

Your teams are smart. Listen to them - we have knowledge and experience that can help you achieve service that we can be proud of.

I worked at Manulife full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good Pay, Work from home available, good location downtown

    Cons

terrible ever-shifting hours, bad management, monotonous day-today that WILL lead to burnout, dealing with uninformed clients causing repetitive speeches, call center blues.

    Advice to Management

Try caring about the employees under your noses that are actually smarter than the average call center drone. Help bolster their growth and help them to reach new heights instead of ignoring their potential and dragging them through the mire.
