Pros

Recently the company has cared about “work life balance” and the sanity of their supervisors.

Cons

Managing Union employees can be tough but if you treat them right (just like any leadership position) and build relationships that makes it easy. The pay and benefits gap between On Road Supervisors and Drivers is horrendous. An On Road Supervisor has to train a driver from day one the Saftey and performance methods outlined by the company and are required to know anything and everything all while being an adaptive teacher to the many different drivers they train in their career. To top it off an On Road Supervisor has to demonstrate everything a driver at UPS needs to do to be successful. They are required to hold their drivers/employees accountable, and are responsible for when a driver doesn’t demonstrate the proper safety and performance methods. Essentially driving the majority of the Operations to perform and make service to our customers. BUT we are paid ok for what we do, BUT THEN AGAIN it only takes one bad knee to financially set an on road sup back. Other than that little thing to complain about My job is awesome. Seriously. It’s awesome that our drivers get taken care of without having to contribute to health care benefits and retirement. I just wish the company would realized the importance of taking care of their Management so they don’t get bogged down and are incentivized to push Safety, service, performance, and any other operational needs the company might have.

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
