Tons of internal red tape, clunky processes, lots of "you should be grateful for your job" - Account Executive UPS Employee Review

Pros

Currently have the flexibility of working from home with "return to the office" based on personal comfort with that (but that is not the case for employees in other parts of the country). Customer interaction is generally positive, except for the instances where I'm held responsible for something completely out of my control.

Cons

The internal red tape and corporate gas lighting is a lot sometimes. The corporation is going through a "transformation" that has made folks wonder about their future at UPS, and question their loyalty over the years (jobs are being cut with little fanfare). The "transformation" also makes it clear that our real customers are stockholders, not shippers. As with many corporations, decisions are made by executives who don't have to use their own services and haven't had boots on the ground in years and are out of touch with the reality of the day-to-day of most of their employees. Internal mobility is limited, and employees who express interest in moving to other departments are sometimes "blacklisted" in their current department. Salaries in some departments are some of the lowest across the industry, which is supposed to be countered with other "perks" (like the management incentive program) but it often doesn't pan out that way.

Pros

THE DRIVERS! they were so nice. Not afraid to give advice, I really liked the drivers, the only ones I had contact with. All were good at their job, etc

Cons

Cold. So this may be only part of the country, but omg, I would have to get paid $100 an hour to work basically your whole shift in 30 or below weather. Before calling me wuss, ask if your winter experience is segments of running to warm place to warm place or hrs in the cold.

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
