I had one of the most frustrating and disappointing interview experiences with Virtusa, coordinated through an HR consultancy called Culminant Outlook.
About two months ago, I was contacted by Meenakshi from Culminant Outlook for a Java Full Stack Developer position at Virtusa. She assured me that the entire interview process would be completed within 3–4 hours. However, the reality was completely different.
I reached the venue at 10:00 AM, and after going through multiple rounds — Technical Round 1, AI assessment, Technical Round 2, and HR round — I was finally done by 10:00 PM, a full 12 hours later. Despite the exhausting process, I was told by the Virtusa HR (John) that I had cleared all the rounds and would soon receive an offer letter, with documentation to begin the following week.
Unfortunately, that was the start of a long and frustrating follow-up process.
For weeks, I kept checking in with both the Virtusa HR and the consultancy. Each time, they told me to “wait a little longer” or that “offers are being released for immediate joiners first.” This was despite the fact that I had clearly informed them in advance about my 2-month notice period, which they had agreed to.
After two full months of waiting and repeated follow-ups, I suddenly received a short email saying that my application had been cancelled/rejected, as the position had already been filled.
This entire experience was extremely unprofessional, misleading, and disrespectful of a candidate’s time and effort.
Spending an entire day in interviews, being assured of selection, and then being kept in the dark for two months only to be rejected without explanation is unacceptable from an organization of Virtusa’s scale.
I would strongly advise Virtusa and their recruitment partners to streamline their hiring process, communicate transparently with candidates, and respect the time and commitment of job seekers.
