I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Uber (Secaucus, NJ) in Oct 2014
Interview
I applied online. Uber conducted a criminal background check, verification of my driver's license, vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance, and linked me to a crisp video outlining how to use the Uber Partner App and Uber's driver/rider exchange etiquette.
After my background check and documents were reviewed, I was invited to register for an onboarding session within two weeks of initially applying. The onboarding session was very similar to the same steps I had taken online - the twentysomethings staffing the event took photos of my documentation and gave a short presentation on how to use the Uber Partner App. The process took less than two hours and I left the building with an active account.

Asked me questions about my vehicle such as for information regarding the year, make, and model, as well as asking for information on my address, my name, whether I’m a student, etc.
