      Account Manager Interview

      Feb 21, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (Boston, MA) in Jan 2022

      Interview

I was quickly moved forward to a final panel interview and was asked to review a case study and create a detailed power point proposal to present to the hiring panel. Despite a horribly unprofessional phone interview and virtual interview, I was genuinely excited about the role and wanted to give UBER the benefit of the doubt. I had a week to work on the project and spent a great deal of time working on it. The recruiter called 3 hours before the scheduled interview, ON THE DAY OF THE INTERVIEW, and left me a message that the interview was CANCELLED. He explained that the hiring team wanted to reevaluate their candidate pool and they already had several people they were interested in giving offers to. I sent multiple emails requesting that they at least take a look at the presentation I spent over a week creating, but no one ever got back to me. I was completely and utterly devastated. Bottom line is this: Cancelling an interview is certainly unprofessional but I understand that things happen behind the scenes and sometimes it can't be avoided. I totally get that. But this wasn't just an interview... I WAS ASSIGNED A PROJECT. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should ANY COMPANY ever give a candidate a lengthy project to work on, unless they are fully committed to reviewing that project. I wasted a week of my life for nothing and no one had any remorse for what they put me through. Going forward, I genuinely hope that Uber reviews this incident and makes some serious changes. My suggestion: Please have clear cutoff dates for interviews, notify the candidates of these dates and please stick to them. Uber did themselves a huge disservice by cancelling my interview (and probably other interviews as well). I have over 15 years of experience working closely with some of the largest and most well know restaurants in New England. My network of restaurant owners and operators is unmatched and I would have brought incredible value to the organization. Now, because you treated me they way you did, this incident will only bring you lost customers, instead of new ones. My family and friends have already deleted all Uber services from their devices and will never use Uber for anything again. I will continue to tell this story to anyone who uses Uber services and will certainly advise anyone who considers working for Uber to look elsewhere. This entire incident was extremely sad and completely preventable. I truly hope that Uber does not continue to treat candidates in this manner.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Other than the standard, "why do you want to work at Uber", my recruiter asked me ZERO questions and could have cared less if I was a good fit for the role. He was completely unprofessional and acted like a used car salesman. I felt like all he cared about was "selling" me on the position.

Online assessment, recruiter screening, HM behavioral round, panel interview with case study. Pretty standard process Uber has one of the best recruiting processes I've ever seen. Recruiter was very fast at following up (either EOW or next day) and I heard they even give feedback if u don't make it to the next round
