I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Starbucks (Washington, DC) in Sep 2011
Interview
Very pleasant with a face to face meeting with the store manager. They buy you a drink and want to get a feel for your personality asking you questions about your life and interests. It's very chit chatty for the first while, then they get into a very specific set of questions they have printed out with your online application, evidence of a highly sophisticated HR machine in the background but a very personal one on one feel at the interview. They ask a lot of "what would you do in this situation" questions, all revolving around customer service issues and dealing with angry or dissatisfied or dishonest customers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you deal with a supervisor that did not respect you in front of customers?
Basically a short chat about my availability, my interest in the job, why I want to work there, how familiar I am with coffee and what my past experiences in hospitality were.
Easiest interview I've ever had. I was only asked 3 questions, 'tell me about yourself, what are your strengths & weaknesses, what is your availability?' Lasted about 10 minutes maximum
Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We appreciate your input and are happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed the interview process here at Starbucks.
it was great. I answered every question thoughtfully and easily. You have to have two interviews, one with the manager and one with the district manager. It is a in person interview. They ask many questions and will either hire you on the spot or you will have to call to see if you get the position.
