      Product Manager Interview

      Apr 1, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Amsterdam
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Lightspeed (Amsterdam) in Feb 2022

      Interview

Quite messy, long (7 weeks), misleading and disappointing..during the first call, I felt the recruiter not so enthusiastic either about the position but more on the company. Then she line me up with the main manager and in meantime receive an email from the recruiter that they don't want to pursue with my application. However the manager still want to meet me so I went for it and he told me about all the great opportunity and company I would work on for the future of the company which was promissing and that I had only one more interview with the hiring manager. It turns out I had 3 more interview, including a business case I had to make which I have all passed brilliantly. In the last interview with the director, I was informed that I would work only on changes regarding current and legacy systems that would eventually be gone and also not work with local teams. The excuse was that I don't have Salesforce experience which they knew from the begining. After that I was promissed an offer by the recruiter (who btw asked me 3 times about what salary I expect when it is asked in the online application form) but then when they hear about my notice period (which I negotiated to be a bit shorter for them ) and questjons regarding the new responsibilities and setup, they decided to not proceed with the offer

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to provide this review. We take your feedback seriously and always aim to improve further. Our goal here at Lightspeed is to keep the hiring process as fast as possible and we extend offers only after the whole hiring process is completed, which includes all interviews and meetings with Hiring Managers. We sincerely apologize as you should not have been promised an offer if that wasn't the team's decision. We hope this won't keep you away from applying again in the future. Best regards, Evangelos, Talent Acquisition Team

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lightspeed in Apr 2026

      Interview

One of the smoothest and most positive interview experiences I’ve had. Everything from recruiter call to offer was completed within three weeks. The team was respectful, engaging, and genuinely interested. The process felt well-structured without being stressful. Communication was clear and consistent throughout, making the entire experience efficient and uplifting.

      Interview

Quick recruiter call, followed by hiring manager round, team interview, VP round. Everyone is very nice, respectful and collaborative. Very smart people, you can exchange a good conversation. Super friendly :)

      Question 1

Standard questions about experience/background, situational questions and a mini case study.

      Application

      Interview

The process was structured very well, even though updates on the next stage took a while and because HR went on vacation, I had to speak to 3 different people from that department alone. But their handover to each other was seamless. Case study was a lot, I left the execution part mostly out because I thought 1) my CV already shows I can deliver things 2) execution is something you need to work on with the team as a PM, you can't decide it alone. But it was a wrong decision on my part and cost me the job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

When I was delivering the case study, the team wanted me to describe execution in detail (the case study was to design the product I would be working on from scratch).
