I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lightspeed (Toronto, ON) in Dec 2023
Interview
1) Brief Interview with HR (very nice and professional)
2) Background and High level Discussion of Projects (great discussion very knowledgeable)
3) Technical Interview where they review backend and frontend code snippets, (notice how the JD is Backend Developer)
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell us about a project you have worked on.
How do you handle Rest API Error codes (timeout in transit)
Biggest thing is the code review... They give extremely outdate code but only talk about it in they way they know. (version, Injection, OOP) they do not want to talk about
They want you to tell them how you improve something that is wrong at its core but "shine this turd" which can be very difficult to parse.
They also do not listen to your response and will just tell you what you already told them because they are clearly checked out of the convo.
Lastly, they will dedicate half the time to front end even though this is a backend Dev Position.
