Initially, I applied to Geico for a customer service position that I saw on CareerBuilder.Com. I applied on a Sunday night and received a callback on Monday. During the callback, I was given an over-the-phone interview during which I was asked about my prior school history, job history, etc. At the end of the phone interview, she asked me when I was available for testing and an interview; the interview was scheduled. I arrived for my interview at approximately 11:00 am and didn't leave until almost 6 pm...the hiring process was EXTREMELY long and time-consuming. The testing (which consisted of a typing test and a test that measures how accurately you can input customer info that you receive via calls and email), an interview, then I was to complete a "role play," but the manager scheduled to oversee mine had left...so I was scheduled to come back a week later because they only perform certain role plays on certain days (this particular role play--customer service--is only on Fridays in Macon. So I finally go to my scheduled CS role play, BUT the manager wasn't there and there was no on else who could perform the role play...to top it off, they made me wait almost an hour to tell me that..this is when I started to realize that they are very unprofessional and very inconsiderate. So, once again, my CS role play was rescheduled....This time I waited for about 45 minutes and a guy performed the role play. During the customer service role play, I was to assist customers via mock inbound calls. My role was that I worked for an insurance company that was responsible for providing coverage on customers' home appliances...I passed the role play and was immediately sent to meet with a CS manager. I initially listened to a few calls with an agent and was interviewed by a CS manager. Although I have years of CS experience, including call center experience, the manager I interviewed with told me that due to me having not had a job in a year, they couldn't invest in me becoming a CS agent, but maybe I could work in Glass Repair of Claims (not sure what the actual job titles are that they told me). In the entry-level positions, base/starting pay is approx. $10.40/hour, in customer service it's approx. $13.40/hour. She then informed me that she would contact me within 24-48 hours because she KNEW they were hiring in those 2 entry-level departments. (Based on your work history Geico will not hire you initially in customer service because you are an investment...they pay for you to be licensed to sell insurance in 16 states..so that's a huge investment to them and they need PROOF that your employment is EXTREMELY steady). They told me that ppl in my situation are hired in Glass Repair and Claims and then employ within the company after working the position steadily. Anywho, to sum it up, I constantly called them after not hearing back from anyone after several days following my final interview...but I heard nothing back...When I finally heard from someone, it was them telling me that they had not ONE single opening...sooo...they completely wasted my time. They are extremely unorganized and could care less because THEY actually have jobs...they stated they will contact me as soon as they have an opening, but if they call me, it'll definitely be a complete waste of their time....they'll definitely be turned down.
