I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2016
Interview
The recruiter reached out to me via email. It sounded like they were so eager to speak with me, so that I decided to pursue the process. I had an initial conversation with the recruiter, which was super standard with basic questions. She told me that the next step will be having a conversation with the hiring manager for 30 mins.
The phone call with the hiring manager was also pretty standard, but the part I really didn't like was that he obviously didn't take a look at my resume and portfolio beforehands. He asked me my portfolio password during the phone call although I passed it to the recruiter in advance. As soon as he opened my portfolio (finally...), his tone definitely had changed, and it sounded like he was no longer interested in speaking with me further. I felt it was pretty rude. He could take a look at it in advance, and just give me a rejection email so that I didn't have to prepare anything during the working hour.
During the phone call, he briefly explained the position details but it didn't really make sense. It was pretty broad and undefined. He said that the team is looking for someone has a strong visual design skill and is willing to execute the design (Sounded like a production designer), and in that case the job title should be different, or at least they should be more descriptive about it.
Anyway, my overall experience wasn't that great with DoorDash. I guess they are just another fancy trendy short-term startup in SF.

Call with recruiter, then a call with the hiring manager. The hiring manager was distracted and seemed to barely pay attention and then I found out I didn't get it.
The interview process was fairly standard. It began with a call from a recruiter, followed by a 30-minute video call with the hiring manager. The recruiter provided detailed guidance throughout, explaining the process and what to expect.
