You may have noticed the Bakery in your local Walmart looks a little different these days! We’ve introduced new display tables in more than 200 of our stores, replacing our previous set-up. This new, visually appealing layout means it’s easier for customers to track down their favourite croissant or go-to muffin, and for associates to stock the displays. This layout change, along with improving our bakery product offering, is part of our Future Operating Model strategy. This team is focused on simplifying for the future and will continue to make changes to improve the experience for our customers, associates, and overall business. More to come!
Meet Maggie Bobinski, our Senior Manager, Technology Portfolio! Maggie will celebrate her 10-year anniversary with Walmart in May. Before joining Walmart, Maggie says she changed jobs every two years – she was always on the lookout for a place that felt like “home.” At Walmart, Maggie says she feels inspired by the company’s dedication to integrity and service to the customer. Our stores are filled with ordinary people doing extraordinary things for our customers and the community. Four of our associates were recognized by the RCMP with certificates of appreciation for helping rescue a missing six-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert in Florida. “Without their actions, that young boy could still be out there somewhere, missing from his family,” said Supt. Benoit Jolette. RCMP certificates are rarely given out to members of the public, but police say they wanted to show their appreciation to the associates who acted quickly to make a difference for the community. Thank you to Ajay Gabani, Sarthak Sojitra, Michele Lewis and Natasha Keeling for your selfless roles in helping police. Because of your courageous actions, a child has been reunited with his mother.
For Gregory Doucet, raising funds for Walmart Canada’s Spark a Miracle campaign is personal. Our Spark a Miracle Campaign raises funds for the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), which supports children’s hospitals across Canada. Gregory was also one of CMN’s Champion children, sharing his story and serving as an ambassador for the cause. “I have a firsthand perspective and I am delighted to talk to people, to them about everything awesome about SickKids,” Gregory said. “A personal connection always makes a difference.” Click on the link below to read more about this year’s Spark a Miracle campaign and how you can support your local children’s hospital!
