I have been working at Ubisoft full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

At Ubisoft Montreal you work with young, creative teams making video games

    Cons

Ubisoft Motnreal is large and unwieldy. The HR policies are not adapted to individuals very well and it is far from modern in terms of software management practices.

    Advice to Management

Hire outside consultants to analyze where we could be more efficient.

I worked at Ubisoft full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity to learn and work with scalable systems and cloud technologies. Supporting games with hundreds of thousands of players.
Benefits and perks are very nice

    Cons

If you’re experienced with cloud technologies look elsewhere, salaries are not par with the market in this domain, you can earn 6 figures elsewhere in the Montreal area.
Don’t expect long term progression unless you want to learn or try different technologies by moving horizontally to other projects.
They sell their perks as the best being the biggest game developer in the city, but other companies also have great advantages

    Advice to Management

Break silos, empower your teams, be smart to help their development or you’ll lose your

I worked at Ubisoft full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get to work on triple A games.

    Cons

Very political. If you don't know anyone or if you're not good friends with people you will be quickly left behind. Not the greatest place to learn and grow. Such a huge company with thousands of people, it's Ubisoft strength but also a weakness. You can't just throw as many people on to a project and think that everything is going to be okay. It usually turns into chaos.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be, be more mindful of your developers. They make the game not you.
