I have been working at Ubisoft full-time

    Pros

Most people love their career and having a great passion in the gaming industry which creates a positive work place environment. There are many learning opportunities and resources helps to balance work and life (yoga, boot camp, free on site studio gym, regular basis employee survey for better operation, awesome HR etc) They also encourage to explore other career options within the company by developing new/existing skills. I really like the part that CEO shows his passion towards the game industry market and communicates with studios to deliver the company goal.

    Cons

    Low salary
    Super fast paced work environment
Less flexible health benefit, fixed to certain options only
Lack of company saving benefits (low RRSP contribution, no DC pension plan)

I worked at Ubisoft full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some workers know what they are doing and are friendly.

    Cons

Upper management only want to follow trends and recycle proven formulas instead of trying to innovate. They have the money and resource to truly be innovative but refuse to do so.

    Advice to Management

Try to think for yourself, stop trying to do what everyone else is doing.

    Pros

if you want your creativity killed off this is the place to go...

    Cons

Read pro's ..... it saves time

    Advice to Management

Get a training program like the Montreal studio ( you know the other studio that you love to bad mouth and look down upon... ) has for new employees so that they are ready to go into production once they reach the floor. have competent leads and directors/management that are willing and capable to help and teach...leads spend a minute going over something and walk away not knowing/caring whether you have learned etc and go back to looking at their phone and then off to a supposed meeting...leave creative decisions to animators on the floor and then when it works out they take the credit for it ...when it doesn't they throw the animator under the bus....

    Pros

Free bagels and swag. Bragging rights.

    Cons

Lack of creativity. The games repeat the same tired formulas without any real vision. Bullies in positions of authority are allowed to behave abominably and abuse other employees without repercussion. Senior leaders are blindly worshipped by teams of fawning sycophants. Women get treated like garbage.

    Advice to Management

Get over yourselves and listen to your creatives unless you want the company to stagnate into irrelevancy.
