Pros

- i have friendly co-workers - there is a friday "Happy Hour" - the problems we solve are interesting (please don't talk about the book) - there are well defined team processes - there are lunch and learn talks and limited pro-d budget

Cons

- there are overly complex solutions to problems, and some of the codebase just hurts - tasktop is totally unsure how to scale development and focuses on the wrong areas - despite thinking otherwise, product department executes a waterfall planning process, and panics when certain customer requests come in - the pay is only okay (even after late 2019 salary adjustments) - our upper management has no idea how to acknowledge mistakes or actually listen to employee feedback - the department structure is poor for organization size - you either work on legacy technologies or more modern services written by developers who dont really have micro-services as a core competency, and most have left the company. it is very slow and difficult to change the status quo

In response to our employees’ feedback we have recently started to present our quarterly NPS results at our company wide all-hands meeting. We take this opportunity to share feedback received as well as speak to the changes we have made in response to past surveys. We are very excited about the opportunities our CEO, Dr. Mik Kersten’s book Project to Product has brought to Tasktop. We also believe it is important for our team to have the right resources to understand the core concepts of our direction and one of the ways we do this is through giving a book to each of our employees. As we have outlined in a previous response, the architecture of our codebase will always be an ongoing journey since we believe in continuous architectural improvements. We are proud of the improvements that we made in 2019 -- and through those improvements have recognized the importance of having the initiation, design and implementation of these activities much more of an inclusive rather than top-down activity. We have restructured and worked on changing our culture in order to support a broad base of input from all levels and teams - we look forward to seeing many additional successes in 2020 due to these changes. We are always happy to see the positive feedback about our people!

Pros

The recent acquisition and overall strategic direction of the company are inspiring. I was really looking forward to taking our products to the next level... and then this...

Cons

This used to be an amazing place to work with great culture and people. Then we hired new Engineering Leadership, which has been on a rampage to destroy everything with incredible speed and efficiency. The new leadership doesn't subscribe to any of the values this company was known for. Narrow minded, the new leadership tries to apply cookie cutter processes from former engagements without thinking or finesse. People are hired into leadership positions for their compliance rather then their skills. You comply and keep your head down and you become a director. "My way or the highway", people are no longer valued at this company. "You want to leave... leave; we will replace you. Sadly, this is especially true for female engineers and managers. All DEI efforts effectively went out of the window and were replaced with practices that would be unacceptable in other companies. So, sadly, it is time to move on, and I cannot recommend anyone who is a developer to work here.

Thank you for your candid feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with Tasktop wasn’t what you expected and didn’t reflect the employee experience we strive for. It’s true that our organization has gone through many changes this year, including changes in our leadership and the recent acquisition. Having said that, we continue to value Tasktopians and our core value, “Care for each other’s growth and happiness” continues to underpin our leadership principles. We do not support or condone a “my way or the highway” attitude nor do we support any sentiment that people are replaceable. People are the most important part of Tasktop/Planview. As it relates to your comment on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the initiatives that we had planned with Tasktop were paused due to the acquisition activities with Planview, however now that we are part of Planview, we are excited to have access to a much larger team of colleagues and resources to help support our journey in improving diversity and creating an inclusive culture. As an example, Planview has strategic initiatives and programs for women in tech, as well as Employee Resource Groups for various minority groups. One of Planview’s values is “We value our differences” in which we champion diverse perspectives and have uncompromising respect for each other. While we may not be able to change what you experienced recently, we hope that the amazing times that you did have at Tasktop are ones that created meaningful connections and career growth for you. Thanks again for taking the time to provide us with feedback!

We strive to continually improve at all levels, including management. We do this by encouraging our employees to share their feedback through our various methods (quarterly employee surveys, suggestion box or through our open door policy) to enable us to continually focus on ensuring Tasktop is a great place to work. We are happy to hear that our colleagues respect and enjoy working together.
