I worked at Red Robin part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible schedule, great staff. I genuinely enjoyed going to work, Reds was like a family.

    Cons

GM would allow almost anyone to train as shift leader, even if they did not have leadership skills. Management was often poor.

I have been working at Red Robin part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The staff here is very friendly for the most part and I find that the management does seem to care about their employees. They start line cooks above minimum wage and the more experience you get the more money you can earn. You get income every week, alternating your payday with your tips on fridays.

    Cons

Hours can be hard to come by for a lot of the part-timers. A lot of people can average around 20-30 but some are only getting about 12 when they want more. Fast paced environment means it’s not perfect for everyone. You have to keep up with a busy restaurants orders even when you’re just beginning. The staff that works in the kitchen only earns a tiny fraction of what the servers make in tips. averaging 25... hours a week in the summer, you can expect about $130 in tips bi weekly. While that is on top of your wage, on busy nights servers can go home with almost twice that in a single night. On slow nights they can still go home with $50 on a 5 hour shift on a thursday, on top of their wage. Servers tip out 2% of their sales to the kitchen which is an unfair almost insignificant amount. Not sure if that’s the same as other kitchens but this seems very low.

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Red Robin part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Most co-workers are friendly - The Manager is nice and understanding. She will ask for your schedule availability and will do her best to accommodate you.

    Cons

    - Chaotic environment most especially when busy. - Management is not strict about cleanliness. Servers and hosts just leave trash on the floor when wiping tables because they know someone will clean it when the restaurant closes down. - Shift Leaders are not well trained. The Manager will tell the team to do something but the shift leaders will tell otherwise. The team in general doesn't follow one direction -... You don't have a definite end time on your shift. Example: Your shift says you will work 11am - 5pm. That's not true. You will RARELY go home on the said schedule. You can only go home when you shift leader tells you to. You get home really late when it is busy and sometimes they even forget to cut you. - Hard work is not worth the low salary. - No work and life balance.
