Pros

They do a full classroom training in Toronto, which gives you a good background on the tech industry if you're new to it. The culture of the company is fun, but gets worse as you move up the ladder.

Cons

There is basically NO training for ISAMs. Working with the mentor is helpful, but your supervisor teaches you nothing related to your role, then completely bashes you for it. I also had an experience with my supervisor at this time where she made slightly sexist comments towards me that I found extremely demeaning and degrading.

Thank you for your response. Softchoice is 100% committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace - for each employee. We take comments like yours very seriously. Please contact me directly so that I may investigate personally. I do want to quickly address the training and onboarding experience you describe. All new sales employees - regardless of role - receive a comprehensive onboarding experience designed to condition you for the specific sales function you’ve been hired for. The first phase of our Sales Academy, as you point out, is an intensive, month-long classroom-based program hosted at our Toronto HQ. During this time, a team of cross-functional instructors teach new hires a variety of practical sales skills, and explain how Softchoice helps organizations leverage the latest and greatest technologies to drive real business outcomes. Upon completing the classroom phase, new hires receive another three months of on-the-job training that prepares them for managing (and being accountable for) their own book of business, upon successful graduation. We actively encourage new hires to own their learning experience. If at any point during the onboarding process, someone doesn’t feel connected in a meaningful way to the work, I would encourage them to share how they feel with their manager. And of course, my door is always open.

Pros

Challenging and interesting work. The potential is there.

Cons

Management does not listen and executives are fed bad information to action on. Director and VP level folks control the narrative and make bad decision after bad decision
