      Pros

      Shopifolks are in general great.

      Cons

      Management has gotten worse and worse over time. Not sure if it's a general thing now, but I used to have a great manager, then it came a new manager that loved to micro manage and do busy work and give us "busy work". They wouldn't leave us in peace to do our job. It was most stressful experience I've had in a work environment. Micromanaging. Senior leadership is just terrible. a bunch of mi-bilionairs thar lost touch with reality.

      Pros

      Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

      Cons

      Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

      Pros

      Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

      Cons

      Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
