Pros

Flexible working hours, remote/home office, flat hierarchies, good equipment, interesting real tasks, for which you take personal responsibility, tasty free meals in a canteen (though you pay 3 Euro tax). The most important is that they treat working students as full time employees: you get the normal user account with the access to all internal portals, conferences, e-learning etc. Other people who work with you may not even know that you are student and treat you equally. And you can search and apply for job openings using internal portal, applications made from there have priority over external ones. So if you want to start your career here after graduation, you should definitely try to apply as a working student/thesis/praktika.

Cons

You can expect a company car only from the 3rd year and years that you worked as a working student don't count. But you can apply for an e-bike! As HR told us: we speak SAPanese here. And it's true: they have sooo much product names and abbreviations (which they love to change regularly), internal rules, portals and applications and other stuff which you should learn in your first days. All the guidance that you receive during onboarding (buddy program, mandatory seminars, wikis, jams etc) is really helpful but anyway it's very hard to get into everything.

Pros

I really liked my role at SAP. After being a cloud Customer Success Manager supporting strategic clients for several years, I moved into a group doing digital customer outreach including producing newsletters, release enablement, webcasts, documentation, event registrations, etc. Salary and bonuses were good, no complaints there.

Cons

No real cons for the job that I was in, except that our group was eliminated by the corporate restructuring and reduction in workforce in North America in 2025. I would have loved to stay but unfortunately we probably showed up on a restructuring spreadsheet somewhere and it was determined that our services were no longer needed. We off-boarded most of our work to other existing employees (who already had full time jobs), which felt unfair to them, but that is how it shook out.
