Pros

Otherwise a great and fantastic company. A lot of positives and why I joined in the first place. An interesting strategy to stick with relational databases and betting a lot on HANA.

Cons

As a new employee under a new manager (in March), he felt he could get away with incompetence and not pay me - without any cause. He thought he had me over a barrel, and that because the company was so great, there was no choice for me but to put up with his cheating. But he didn't realise that a great employee can stand up for themselves. He didn't pay me nor apologise so I quit. I have grounds to sue. But the company will lose out if I work for their competitors. The culture of not valuing staff might work much of the time, but not when it comes to the super stars. I will never buy or promote SAP again. If someone asks me for my opinion of SAP before buying, I will tell them my experience. And for those of you who have done well out of SAP. Good for you. Do you stand up against third world practices of not paying someone for no reason whatsover? Just because they don't feel like it? There was no complaint against me or any error made by me. I turned down other opportunities for this. It cost me thousands in location expenses. I committed fully, and my commitment was asked for. But SAP did not honour it's commitment to me. IMHO.

Pros

The people at SAP are genuinely nice, and the culture is generally supportive. The work-life balance is good to an extent, but when you're busy, you're BUSY. SAP is highly complex so expect to take a year to ramp up.

Cons

Only way to get a high salary is if you're hired externally. They do not reward employees who are loyal to the company. Closed opportunities often have to go through the Compensation Exception Committee, creating uncertainty around earnings. Prepare for constant change, whether that's solutions being removed from your sales bag, account shifts, territory realignments, or changing compensation policies. Quotas can be difficult to attain
