Pros
Lots of interesting areas to work in. Great people to work with. Rigorous engineering discipline.
Cons
Salary is not competitive as you become more senior. 50-70% drop in compensation. Causes turnover in the intermediate to senior levels. Process can be heavy is some projects. Technology can be antiquated. Since most work is contract based, incentives to be innovative with technology or solutions is not there as the main motivator is to maximize contract profits.
