Always been a dream place for space work in Canada. Exciting work with your contributions having a direct connection to human spaceflight exploration. Collegial work environment with a healthy mentoring culture. Respectful culture. Very inclusive, fun hockey league that has run for 30 years- indicative of healthy, social dynamic at office. Other social events foster team spirit. Students or new juniors are very much appreciated by existing team members for the new energy they bring. More experienced people appreciated for bringing ideas from other companies. ‘Office politics’ have tended to be fairly benign - changes in recent years have made such behavior even less tolerated. Pride in work -having one of your main products featured on the $5 bill is cool.
Cons
Building is a bit older and gym could use some newer equipment. Recreation club (voluntarily funded) was once quite vibrant has largely been replaced with less formal, ad-hoc organized activities. Would be nice if newer, younger staff took advantage of funding to organize more events outside of work.
