Pros

Big company with some opportunity, met some really amazing people during my time there. There is job security, not an issue.

Cons

Pay is not competitive, every time you get a promotion you go back on pay. Your responsibilities double but your pay only goes up by an insignificant amount. Very sales drives, which is ok to a certain extent. The problem they don't care about their clients' needs, only the bottom line. Upper management is always changing and with it changes the focus on front line employees, Always implementing new ways of doing business that last only a few weeks. They do not like to promote internally, you get more respect if you are an external applicant. Most branch managers are incompetent with the exception of a few. They like to hire branch managers from externally that are push sales but don't go to them with question when you need help, they will completely ignore you. I have worked with two very incompetent branch managers, their level of maturity and intelligence was a joke, one of them was intimidated by me and admitted it before I left. Embarrassing for a big bank like CIBC.

Pros

-People were friendly and would do coffee chats/one-on-one lunches. -Other interns were great. -Base compensation as an analyst is on the higher end.

Cons

-Feedback from intern manager only given at the end of a rotation differed greatly from what team members would directly tell me which was confusing. Makes me think people are only nice on the surface. -Team members prioritized some interns over others in terms of work given and time spent. -Teams in the same product group had wildly different work life balance with some working 70+ hours a week and others working close to 40. -Has high turnover overall due to lower compensation at the Director+ level.
