Pros

Great employee banking benefits Overall good working environment Excellent extra perks, like the workperks site, VIP metropass discount, gym memberships Benefits are comparable to bank peers

Cons

If you're a top performer, especially a people leader, expect to get away with murder. CIBC, like any company, loves people who are high performers. But they love them at the expense of others. I've worked with and under people who lie, cheat and steal, and the company says nothing because they meet or exceed their sales targets. Those of us who do well or just a little bit under are treated poorly, bullied and made to feel like less valued employees. I struggled as a people leader under my manager because the individual sabotaged my role at every turn with the staff - and rated me poorly as I attempted to turn around a compliance poor branch. Escalations to senior management was met with disagreement with my complaint, and I was told to suck it up, and find a different job. I took a demotion to get away from the toxic environment. After nearly 15 years of dedicated service I quit for a better company.

Pros

-People were friendly and would do coffee chats/one-on-one lunches. -Other interns were great. -Base compensation as an analyst is on the higher end.

Cons

-Feedback from intern manager only given at the end of a rotation differed greatly from what team members would directly tell me which was confusing. Makes me think people are only nice on the surface. -Team members prioritized some interns over others in terms of work given and time spent. -Teams in the same product group had wildly different work life balance with some working 70+ hours a week and others working close to 40. -Has high turnover overall due to lower compensation at the Director+ level.
