Pros

Chill job You can get away with not doing a lot of work (depending on team of course). WFH flexibility Good 401k/general benefits Light hours The bar to stand out is very low amongst my team members

Cons

This job I have is the most boring job I've ever had. I do not feel challenged. There's way too many cooks in the kitchen. I've been at Amex 3 years and I've had in total 5 or 6 different direct managers. Leadership is a MESS and their direct reports do not know what's going on which impacts everyone below them. There are quiet layoffs and is not acknowledged by the leadership team(s). These quiet layoffs are claimed to be "restructuring" Not everyone works and the chaos lets you get away with it. It's a stupid place to be honest, if you want to chill or focus on your family or whatever personal stuff you have going on I would recommend it.

Pros

They have fantastic pay for the position you're in, and they teach you interesting and engaging utility of modern technology mixed with legacy fundamentals. I've learned quite a bit while AmEx while getting paid more than fairly - I'd recommend a stretch here to whomever may be reading this!

Cons

The Company is huge, and at times it may take more than a little time to get recognized for your abilities and the growth you've had. There's a reason there is a "only way up is out" reputation exists for some enterprise companies...
