What a Joke

Pros

Commission is guaranteed for a few months.

Cons

Everything else. Nothing about this company makes sense. I often found myself wondering if it was some bizarre piece of performance art or an elaborate hoax. I'll go point by point detailing my experience at this company. -Nepotism is rampant. At least 2 of the sales managers are directly related to current or former company higher ups. Anyone care to guess which 2 sales managers have won "manager of the year" the last two years? -Very little help is provided, even when you ask. My direct manager was out of office for at least 5 or 6 work days during my first month on the phones. In the 4 months I was with DealerCenter, I got ONE call coaching. I asked this manager to review one call with me, waited a month and heard nothing back after she said she would help. -Too little pay for too much work. The junior account executive role is an absolute sham. It's not a junior AE role in reality, it's a hybrid of junior AE, account management, secretary, and technical support. After your ramp up period, commission guarantee goes away and you're left with all these duties making $15 an hour. Fast food pays better for WAY less complex work. -You practically need a PhD in economics to understand the comp plan. Product sales or free trials equal points, which is then tallied with effort (and LOTS of negative modifiers) to determine how much commission you make. It's a convoluted mess clearly designed to pay employees less than they're worth. -PTO policy is laughable. They say you get 2 weeks PTO your first year. The catch? It accrues per pay period over time. So you basically get nothing. In 4 months I took 3 hours of PTO, one sick day, and had only accumulated 20 hours by the time I left. -The people in charge here are some of the most dimwitted people I've ever been around. For example, the company put together a trip to Las Vegas for a sales conference in December. Almost the entire sales team went, while several stayed behind and worked as regularly scheduled. Upon return, my sales manager was SHOCKED to learn that the experience of those who stayed behind was not great. Turns out, when you have 48,000 customers across the nation and about 4 or 5 people to help them while the rest of the account execs and account managers party, customers get mad. Who could possibly have seen that coming? I could go on about what deceitful, cretinous, jokers these people are but the bottom line is this; do not work here. If you're a salesperson who values transparency, intellect, and guidance you will be better off almost literally anywhere else.

Pros

I worked for Dealercenter for a year, and I can honestly say I loved working for this company. The managers are very helpful in helping you obtain your goals. The pay was great and the other employees were very supportive. I left due to personal reasons but other than that I would have stayed.

Cons

You have to be self motivated
