Pros
D2L works hard to invest in the professional development of their employees. They pay for eligible college and university courses through their Wave program, and even provide two paid days to allow employees to work on their course work. D2L offers fully remote positions and flexible working hours that gives employees excellent work-life balance. D2L has a great employee recognition program that awards employees monetary incentives if they are recognized by their peers. Overall, the company invests a lot of time in understanding the mental health needs of employees, offering seminars and information about work-life balance and how to respect the different abilities of our employees.
Cons
D2L prides itself on providing myriad tools and processes to get the job done. However, the results can be siloed teams that do not connect well because there is a lack of standardized approach and standardized methods of communication. There are too many project planning tools, communication tools, and methodologies in play. This can often result in duplication of effort, where one team has created something that another team has no knowledge of and therefore wastes time creating. D2L's strength is it invests a lot of time and effort in understanding the needs of it's clients and customers. However, this can sometimes be too much of a good thing. Scope creep can be rampant, because as teams try to iterate too rapidly based on client feedback. Initial project goals are never reached, because teams are too busy trying to chase the next goal.
