Pros

Fast-paced, challenging work Free clothes and products Co-workers were genuinely great people The products are good

Cons

CEO was overbearing, extremely critical, and thought he was always right. He would ask for suggestions and input from the team, then do whatever he wanted to anyways. Then, if it didn't work the way he planned, we would have a long meeting to discuss how to do better the next time?? Eventually we just stopped giving input. He also always talked about the "mission" and "community" but it's so cringe because he is literally one of the least asian people I know. The campaigns and marketing would feel so fake and forced because he doesn't genuinely know much about the various asian cultures he profits off of. It made me feel very slimy. Lastly, expectations are very high here (which is fine), but we were not given the proper support nor tools, making work very emotionally draining and generally exhausting.

Pros

The best part of working here was definitely the people. My coworkers were kind, supportive, and always willing to help. They really kept me going. There were also some nice perks like free lunches, a gym membership, and boba tea products every now and then.

Cons

I joined this company with excitement, but it quickly turned into one of the most emotionally exhausting experiences of my career. The work environment is highly toxic, with constant turnover that reflects deeper issues in management and culture. I often felt undervalued, manipulated, and pushed beyond reasonable limits like my well being didn’t matter, only the output I could deliver. Despite giving my best, I was regularly gaslighted and made to feel inadequate. The lack of genuine support, transparency, and basic respect left me overwhelmed and, eventually, in therapy. There’s also a clear pattern of favoritism and exclusion that creates a stressful and unhealthy dynamic among the team. If you’re someone who values mutual respect, psychological safety, and sustainable growth, I’d strongly caution against working here. This environment took a serious toll on my mental health, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Fast-Paced, but Fun

Pros

I worked in marketing at Boba Tea Protein, and it was a genuinely solid experience. The company’s products are cool and it helps that the products are something I’d be interested in even if I didn’t work here. The pace is very fast because of all the new products and campaigns, which is fun if you’re into the start-up culture. The leadership team and CEO put a lot of pressure on the team, but they also do take a lot of time to help develop younger team members who are early in their career. The pay was also a pro tbh, it was quite a bit higher than the other roles I had recently applied for.

Cons

While the experience was overall positive, the “startup” environment sometimes meant juggling multiple projects with tight deadlines, which could get overwhelming. Additionally, as a smaller company, resources for campaigns could be limited compared to larger brands, so we had to get creative with budgets. Lastly, the office could get hectic during peak product launches, which occasionally disrupted work-life balance, but extra time off was often given after hefty weeks.
