I have been working at American Income Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Having the ability to choose how much that you will make. I left an 18 year retail management career. In 7 months with the company I have had more praise, recognition and encouragement than I did giving 18 years of my life to another company. I’ve always wanted to travel and in less than 6 months with this company, I have earned 3 paid trips! The energy is high here and training and coaching is literally always at your fingertips if and when you need it.

    Cons

It’s not easy, but nothing worth it ever is.

I have been working at American Income Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers, fully unionized with benefits, provides leads. Unique financial products which actually solve material problems, not just throwing a big cheque at a grieving widow.

    Cons

Leads are little better than cold calling, disingenuous/dishonest lead generation, people sign up for a child safety kit and they get a life insurance pitch, high pressure sales. Little to no support, 100% commission, literally no one cares about you if you’re not selling, structured like a pyramid scheme, dishonest recruiting using skewed stats, majority of your time is spent cold calling. Low commission rates vs competitors, small amount of products which are generally over priced. Zero support with service items. All your start up fees are your own. Expect to work 6-7 days a week 12 hours a day at times with no compensation.

    Advice to Management

Create more honest lead generation, move to inbound leads, move away from cold calling. A union lead costs $30, has a closing ratio of 30% plus costs involved in time spent calling/doorknocking to get the appointment from the lead, compare that to live transfer lead generation services based in offshore callcenters who qualify leads for interest, available time, income, and willingness to buy, where the prospect is transferred directly over from the telemarketer to you as the agent 80% closing ratio $40 per live transfer lead.
Stuck in the 20th century, just recently moved away from paper based leads.

    Pros

some of the best reasons for working at AIL Canada is that your supervisor invests in your development, training is provided. I received constant feedback which helped me be successful at my job

    Cons

The downside would be repetition. The role involved screening candidates all day. It would get monotonous.

I worked at American Income Life full-time

    Pros

Flexible in that you can decide to take time off when you want/can afford it.

    Cons

The only way to be successful at this commission based position is to sell people more than what they need. There is a lot of travelling and going to people's homes can be uncomfortable/unsafe.
