This role is open to residents in and around Calgary or Edmonton, AB, as work will be throughout province at work sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment in substations and related power infrastructure.
- Perform terminations, splicing, and testing of power and control cables.
- Assemble and install electrical components including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, panel boards, lighting, and grounding systems.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, and specifications to complete installations accurately.
- Conduct testing and commissioning support for new and upgraded electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform repairs in a timely and safe manner.
- Follow all Alberta OHS regulations, Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), and company safety procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and ensure proper use of tools and equipment.
- Complete daily time sheets, safety documentation, and work reports as required.
- Support senior electricians and apprentices by sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrician ticket (Red Seal preferred) or 4th Period Apprentice with significant experience.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial, commercial, or utility electrical work (substation or high-voltage experience is a strong asset).
- Solid understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and Alberta electrical regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documents.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical testing equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety and ability to work in a team environment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently when required.
