I have been working at DNEG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Its owned by 80% India 20% UK that pretty much says it all.

    Cons

I can't stress enough DUMB is the HR section at Double Negative Vancouver. Extremely unqualified recruiters that are NOT hiring well versed and Industry professionals with far more knowledge than the most of the workforce. I am super surprised as to the kind of feedback they give out. 3D hires and Compositing section hires are extremely disappointing as the two girls that are in charge have no HR experience and think they are way knowledgeable than everyone else. The reason no one sticks around in the company is because of poor hiring skills and HR department that isn't from a VFX production background.

    Advice to Management

HIRE BC TRAINED HR and NOT some random snubs from the UK.

I worked at DNEG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Dneg know how to include everybody when it comes to getting people together and growing as a wider team. Dneg is a global company - usually it feels 'ugh' with time differences at a global company - alas Dneg make it work very efficiently with good scheduling. Outstanding VFX and Animation talent too.

    Cons

As most big companies are... There is vigorous in-house loops and it takes a small while to grow in any capacity. In other words, a little bit of 'pigeon holing' can happen for juniors. It should be noted that during this time, juniors are still encouraged to learn and train on the job which is certainly a good aspect.

    Advice to Management

    Relax a little ;)

I have been working at DNEG full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People around are pretty much friendly and helpful

    Cons

    * If you are thinking of moving on but have little to no experience, you can forget all about it.
    * Verbally they mentioned that they will move you, but after a few months, one of the update given - the dept currently has no seats to move you in (yet they keep hiring for new people)
    * Even if you do get the chance to move on, the title of your position has not been changed and it will still reflects you as the old/ current title that you had

    Advice to Management

With so much talk about training and stuff, nothing/ no one is really getting training. Do something about this, please

I have been working at DNEG full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've been working full time at Dneg Vancouver for 2 years and a half (still counting) and joined the company shortly after the moved here. I've seen the company growing and getting better and better. As an animator, I'm having a lots of fun. People are nice and our head of animation is fantastic, the shows are getting more exciting projects to work on. We always have a good time in dailies and joke around too.

    Cons

Overtime are expected when working on VFX. It sucks but at least we are paid!

    Advice to Management

Don't wait for last minute to ask for OT

I have been working at DNEG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are "all in this together" they do get major motion pictures but take on shows that they are not equipped to handle.

    Cons

Disorganized leadership, poorly structured shows, poor training, low salary, six and seven day weeks required by production and artists, overtime expected. Poor infrastructure, old computers software and systems.

    Advice to Management

Management is ill prepared for reviews, transitions, career trajectory.
