I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Zendesk (Toronto, ON) in Nov 2020
Interview
I didn't apply. I was approached by a manager who referred me to a recruiter. It was a generalist 30 minute call.
The following week I received an automated message saying I had applied for the role and another automated message saying they were moving forward with other candidates. I'm fine with moving forward with other candidates, but the part that didn't resonate with me were the automated messages and no human follow up. After the 1st round call, I feel it's common courtesy to follow up directly when poaching candidates. I feel this doesn't reflect the values of a company that says they have a people-first culture.

Question 1
What experience do you have that compliments this role?
How would you like to develop your career?
What are you looking for in this role?
What is your expected salary?
It's been two months since I applied, I can track my progress in their recruiting system and my application is stuck in the "in review" stage, while the job offer continues to be reposted. Waiting this long for a CV review seems a nonsens and is a waste of my time.

Question 1
I’m waiting almost 2 months for reviewing my application
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Zendesk
Interview
I was giving 20 minutes to prepare a presentation for a creative project when I was suppose to have had all week. Then I was ghosted after being sent a benefits package after a month a half or interviewing. It was pretty clear that the recruiter had very little experience hiring for creative positions before.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked what my most boring/corporate project was and how I creatively problem solved it.
The interviews with team members were engaging, but the overall process was extremely drawn out. It took nearly two months. At multiple stages, I assumed they had moved on without notifying me, only to get contacted for yet another interview. In the end they told me they were making a decision within days, yet they never contacted me to tell me they went with another candidate. I have empathy for the demands of hiring at a high-growth company, but I as disappointed to not be treated wth more respect as a candidate.
