The Croft School interview questions

Initial zoom screening interview followed by a request to have a school visit and demo lesson. They also asked me to complete a 6 week unit plan. It was extremely thorough. The demo lesson was followed by a tour of the school and a sit down interview. They mentioned how great the unit plan was and that they should implement several of the lessons/field visits into their curriculum. I was told I'd hear back soon and after 3 weeks of being ghosted from them I reached out to ask for clarity and was told they would not move forward. Not only do they ask for free labor, but ghosting your candidates after their interviews, even if you don't intend to hire them, is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I would stay away from this organization.

The job description for this associate teacher position said the it offered "compensation which is competitive with other local independent and public school opportunities." Glassdoor says the average assistant early ed teacher salary in Boston is $28,000/yr, and the lowest is $23,000. Due to COVID19 group size restrictions, they are adding a position and cutting class sizes. In the interview, Peter said that for this position of teaching 10 children by myself, from about 8-3pm, for a full school year, I would get about $20,000 and no benefits. I have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and over 3 years of specifically teaching preschool, plus two more years teaching experience with slightly older children. The Croft School is definitely not offering "competitive" compensation. I ended the interview early and decided not to continue with my application, because I felt the salary was way too low.
