I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Starbucks (New York, NY) in Sep 2019
Interview
I had a phone interview with a recruiter. It was all behavorial in nature. I had a hard time understanding the questions and what they were seeking for an answer. The recruiter was very nice and coached me a bit for the in person interview. He told me to use the STAR method, which I had never heard of, and tried to study and understand for the in person. The in person interview was with 2 district manager in a store. One had been with the company for 9 months, the other started as a barista and had been with the company 12 years and worked his way up. The manager from 9 months asked most of the questions while the other interviewer typed things in his computer. The questions seemed to be very Starbucks "culture" and unfortunately, I worked last in a company that did not ask for employee feedback so I had a hard time thinking of a relevant answer. Also, I was struggling with trying to answer in the "STAR" method. The recruiter followed up with a call that said I didn't get the job. It was a huge disappointment for me as I truly wanted the opportunity and thought I would be great at the job but I felt lacking in the interview technique they used - they seemed to be looking for a corporate answer that was standard - but I haven't worked anywhere corporate in years so I failed.
