Took a goofy assessment test (lots of questions about shapes and pattern recognition) before having a typical screening call with a recruiter.
The call wasn't terrible, but several questions about the modest gap in my resume were a turnoff while my very relevant professional experience was barely broached. Felt like the extended leave was treated as a red flag. Maybe I'm too old school, but I didn't like this process at all.
I attended screening round after submitting the online application. Generally after one to two weeks. But i felt the process was not clear enough, but I can feel the stressful environment after layoff.
Game then screening the. discovery and then life story. Nothing too complex but unnecessary steps. The interviewer were wanna be entrepreneurs who are far from that. That is the overall process.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Calgary, AB) in Sep 2025
Interview
They asked basic questions and was a fact collecting session vs an interview. Not personable experience with interviewer. Would not recommend if any insight into company behaviors. Long interview process with many steps, recommend one ensures they really want the role before committing to process.
