I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Shell in Dec 2011
Interview
Typical competency questions for first 40 minutes but there were a lot of further questions probing quite deeply on each example so that I only got to talk about 2 or 3 of my experiences. For the last 20 minutes, I was given a choice of 4 topics to discuss. The one I chose was the role of social responsibility for a large international company such as Shell. Another was how to hire and retain high-calibre people in the company. One was about the usefulness of virtual teams.

I applied through university. I interviewed at Shell (Austin, TX) in Oct 2019
Interview
The first round was easy. It was a pre-recorded interview. They asked basic personal question. The second round was a case study that they give you time to prepare for. I probably would have made it if I had known how case study goes, but I didn't.
I completed the online tests, and then did a behavioural interview online. Basic behavioural questions. However, the online interview was not conducted with a person. Simply answer questions by recording yourself.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Shell (Calgary, AB) in Oct 2016
Interview
I went through the online application process and after about a month I received a call about an interview. The interview was over the phone with an engineer and lasted over an hour. Basic behavioural questions and you also have time at the end to ask them anything. They went in great detail with my questions. You apply for a general engineering position with Shell and then if you do well in the interview they will find a place that best suits you.
