      Customer Service Representative Interview

      Nov 1, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Spokane, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Spokane, WA) in Oct 2022

      Interview

I received, the email for the assessment did the assessment and later received the email for the video interview in hire Vue, on the 24 Oct, 2022 and waited did some studying looked at reviews on the process and what type of questions i would be asked, wrote down questions and answered them professionally tried to stick with the STAR format as best as I could, i was nervous because i really wanted this job, you get 6days to do the interview i waited till my 5th day around 10am because i had an email saying the invite for the hire Vue was going to expire soon, I only waited because i really wanted this position so I wanted to be sure this was it, my yes! I claimed it in advance and was high hopes, so I said ok I'm going to do this, I got this. I did the interview luckily it was some of the same questions i wrote down for many reviews who said the same questions, they allowed 2 times to do it, along with practice time before, although I went through all that seeing yourself talk to yourself was hard, I think you can hide the front camera but i didn't see that option maybe I overlooked it but the video example shows you can however that would still be hard for many because it's like ok i don't see myself so what faces am I making like am i looking weird or something especially if you're a person that make face expressions naturally when talking or look away a lot, I did the first question and it went easy still nervous but i was like I got this, on one video i recorded i messed up and wanted to re-record it but it accepted the video because i forgot i already recorded and it was already my second attempt and stopped and try to re-record it and it submitted, i was so discouraged however i went on and gain confidence since i messed the last question up, i wanted to come stronger and push through, I fill like i did a 80 out 100, because i fumbled over my words a little, if i was talking to an actual person i could have been a little more relaxed however the interview felt a lot of pressure to be perfect like a do or die feeling because it's a job that you want if you mess you don't get feeling, I didn't like that feeling at all, I finished the interview and felt relieved like I did I have a chance, I explained everything in detail the best for the situation I was telling, I was authentic, smiled, kept eye contact like if someone was in front of me, my experience was military related that gained skills that is beneficial to this position, I've manage a lot of teams and was faced with difficult experiences that i found solutions to with positive outcome, it wasn't Soley customer service but my previous job in the military has customer service roles tied within it and I also worked as a customer service rep in my previous yrs. Two days later i got an email saying i was not selected for an interview, it really discouraged me because you would think that they focus on authentic experience, passion, commitment, discipline, self-starter, positive attitudes, have well professional tone in speaking, and still it wasn't enough, and it sucked because it was something I could really do and do well, I'm an African American if anyone wondered, I wish nothing but the best for those going through this interview not bad at all, I hope Ya'll get this job! sidenote- I didn't realized they had the same position in different states, my spouse showed me the position on indeed and gave me the link, so I applied but later went on indeed myself and seen they had others in different states. I seen the progressive customer service rep for the state I was actually living in, and I noticed that I applied for the one in another state, idk if it matters because its remote but it was just something I noticed

      Customer Service Representative Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance

      Interview

I submitted my application and then got invited to complete a HireVue interview. It was about eight questions, all requiring STAR style responses. After I finished the interview, I received a rejection email. I honestly hate when companies play in people’s faces like this. What was the point of making me do an online interview if you already decided based on my resume? If you weren’t interested from the start, just say that. I have very little respect for companies that reject people through recorded online interviews, without ever allowing them to speak to a real person. It feels less like recruiting and more like a way to collect personal data our voices, our faces, without any real intention of moving forward.

      Interview

Straight forward typical call center interview. Initial interview was a phone screening where the recruiter asked for a background description of my resume. Two days later I interviewed with a supervisor and hiring manager. Entire process took about 2 weeks to receive job offer.

      Interview

Recruiter was rude, emailed me an hour before my interview and asked if I was available right now. I quickly responded and said that I could be ready in 20 mins sighting that our original interview was not for another hour. Upon the interview he made a comment about not being able to drop everything and start the interview an hour early. I had inquired about a religion question and holidays that differ from normal US holidays and he said yeah that wouldn't really align with our values. I should have sued. He sighted on my after interview report that I didn't have the experience he was looking for (which was a lie).
