      Senior Systems Engineer Interview

      Oct 4, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Oracle

      Interview

A fairly straight forward interview process with a few remote interviews and then a day of onsite interviews. Most interview questions being technical. The technical portion of the interview will be with several people from different LOB's looking for the same position to be filled.

      Senior System Engineer Interview

      May 19, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Oracle (Seattle, WA) in Feb 2024

      Interview

1 HR phone screen (just one!) – a quick get-to-know-you call where they double-check fit, salary range, and availability. Super casual, usually 30 min tops. 4 video calls with the team – spread over a day or two. You’ll hop on Zoom with engineers and the hiring managers, trading stories about past projects and seeing if the vibe clicks. 3 of those are technical deep-dives – live coding, maybe a lightweight system-design prompt, plus a couple of “walk me through how you solved ___” moments. Think pair programming meets show-and-tell. 1 final round is all behavioral – the classic “tell me about a time…” questions: conflict resolution, ownership, learning from mistakes, etc. No code, just your stories and how you work with people.

      Senior Systems Engineer Interview

      Dec 5, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Chicago, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Oracle (Chicago, IL)

      Interview

Applied against Oracle's ad on their Job Opportunities page. Got an email from the HR personnel and soon got a call from the hiring manager. It was very friendly and smooth call. Got a technical interview a week later. Luckily that was not very difficult either because my resume matched with the job description, pretty closely. I know they checked out on at least one of the references given. In about 2 weeks there was a call from the hiring manager for a face to face interview. Had to make my own arrangements for travel and that got reimbursed after relatively longer time than you would expect. Interview was mostly to check out communication skills and personality, I guess, because the manager was not really technical in the area. Took about 2 months for them to put together an offer, which seemed rather strange given the initial pace.

      Question 1

I did not experience any difficult or unexpected question because there was a good match, I guess.
