I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2013
Interview
Even with cosmetic sales experience through Estee Lauder, it took a Dior manager to get me the interview. Its a very small cosmetic world in Chicago, so once you have the connection- remain pleasant because you will always run into them down the road. Dior wanted me to work as an associate, but Nordstrom wanted me at Clinique. Had a solid reputation with Clinique, but you will have to interview with Nordstrom and with the cosmetic line. Nordstrom may think you are great for one brand, but the brand may not think the same. If you really want to work at a particular line, but with Nordstrom, accept the position at Nordstrom, and they will work with you to move to that particular line after gaining more experience or skills.
I lived right down the street, so I made a point to the hiring manager that I lived down the street, and I had a super flexible schedule so if they ever needed coverage or last minute fill in, I was available and willing to work. -- she loved that.
Meet a hiring manager, meet the specific manager for your role, answer some simple questions. No demonstration of skills required. Expect to meet a few people before signing a contract.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Nordstrom (The Woodlands, TX) in Nov 2022
Interview
Horrible! They only had 4 positions available with 100-250 applicants for each! After I applied they sent me a generic email, stating to come to their job fair! Seriously? Why would they even have a job fair for only 4 positions in the entire store (of which 100's of candidates already applied)!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Will you come to our open house job fair on a specific date with tons of other candidates (after they had already filled the positions)?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Richmond, VA) in Jun 2022
Interview
The interview process was quite easy, I applied then received a cll back followed by an interview with their HR and then another with the cosmetics floor manager. All interviews were easy and I was offered the job on the spot.
