      Technical Specialist Interview

      Jun 20, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bengaluru
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Nokia (Bengaluru)

      Interview

Total Number of Rounds: 3 2 Technical Round & 1 Managerial Round. Process: Initially HR called after seeing my profile in One of the Job portal. Verified the details like experience, tech stack, c.ctc, e.ctc. Same day HR called again to confirm my profile is shortlisted but they can't meet my ECTC, and Max they can offer is 25% hike which I agreed to and my interview was scheduled. Round 1: it was a DSA round. Two programs were asked, one on binary search tree bottom view and another other was implementing queue data structure. Along with it few questions on docker, kubernates and spring. I was able to implement both the programme and answered 6 out of 9 theoretical questions. Verdict: Cleared Round 2: This was a design round and was scheduled for one hour. Interviewer asked to implement a virtual file system with commands like mkdir, cd, cp, grep, touch, rm, rename, ls etc. I was able to come up with a solution in an hour and write implementation of 2-3 commands. But interviewer was looking for a fully working solution and the interview extended for 1.5 hours more. I wrote a working solution with almost all the commands. Verdict: Cleared Next day I got call from HR mentioning I have been selected and managerial round for 10-15 mins will be scheduled to discuss salary expectations and for my doubt clearing (if any) regarding the project and team. Along with that she again note down my ECTC which I mentioned same as initially agreed value (25% hike). Evening I got call from HR again saying they can't match my expected CTC and Max they can offer is same as my current CTC plus 10% bonus. After a long discussion agreed to re-check the budget with hiring manager. After multiple follow up was simply sent an email saying due to budget cap my expected CTC can't be meet and my profile is been dropped. Although the interview experience was nice but it was completely waste of time. Would request HR not to engage with candidates if can't give standard hike on current CTC.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Nokia (Bengaluru) in Apr 2025

      Interview

I attended an interview with Nokia on April 28th and successfullly cleared all the rounds, including the managerial round, which was supposed to be the final stage. Soon after. I received a rejectio email that mentioned the position as "Technical Lead," even though I was actually being considered for the "Techical Specilist" role. This caused a lot of confusion, but after nearly three months, in August, I was contacted again and informed that the rejection had been sent by mistake. They told me there were still vacancies for the same role and asked me to attend another round of interbiews. After completing it, I was again rejected, and once more the email stated the role as "Technical Lead." Throughout the process, I was referred to "Techmical Specialist," but got rejection mail for "Technical Lead" which made things even more unclear. At one point, after keeping me on hold for around 209minutes, the manager joined the call, assured me that everything was fine, and even explained in detail about the component I would be working on - not once, but twice - at the very end of the process. Despite these discussions, on th following monday I received a rejection email, this time citing that another candidate had been finalized at the last moment. What makes the situation more disappointing is that the person selected came form a networking background, while I clearly do no, and Nokia was aware of my exact skill set and experience from the beginning. Knowing this, they should not have cosidered me for such a mismatch in the first place. Overall, the entire experience was confusing, time- consumig, and ultimately a frustating waste of effort for me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

During the interview, they asked me to elaborate on every skill I had listed on my resume. Each area of expertise was discussed in depth, with follow-up questions to assess my practical knowledge and experience.
